  • The award value is approximately $2,500 for a single-term study opportunity, $2,500 – $5,000 for a single-term work or volunteer experience, and up to $10,000 for two-term volunteering or work experience.


Eligibility for University of Waterloo Scholarships


The below requirements to be considered for University of Waterloo Scholarships:

  • Required Languages: English
  • Selected Countries: All countries in the world
  • Candidates who are in a good level of academic achievement (normally at a minimum 70 percent average at the undergraduate level and a minimum 75% average for higher levels) are eligible to submit applications for scholarships.
  • The applicants must be full-time undergraduate or graduate scholars in any faculty that would like to participate in an overseas experience in Israel and the possibility of a minimum-paid or volunteer co-op placement or volunteer assignment, an academic exchange, or study term related to academic requirements.
  • International students with a valid Canadian study permit are full-time students and are assessed international tuition costs.
  • Students are often offered research-based courses (thesis or major research papers).
  • It is usually only available to students entering the initial term of their degree (term 1.0).
  • Students are required to demonstrate academic excellence through the requirements set by the faculty.
  • Students must meet the academic requirements of their degree program. They must also not meet the probationary needs for admission.
  • The grant can be added to other external or internal awards (e.g., UW Graduate Scholarship, OGS, etc.). It is important to note that scholarships are different than sponsorship – read the following bullet.
  • In general, students shouldn’t receive foreign agency or government funding (e.g., China Scholarship Council, Libyan sponsorship, etc.) or be entirely or partially self-funded more than the required minimums for support by the faculty.
  • Grandparents of students who are part of the current IMSA program are not eligible for an IMAE However, students who were previously given an IMSA for an earlier master’s degree could qualify for IMAE.
  • Candidates will automatically be qualified to receive this award based on the application form for admission. Departments and Faculty will define their internal procedures to select winners based on criteria for eligibility and allocation.
  • Faculties could enforce stricter qualifications for students as needed.
